Akron Man Arrested For False Informing, Dealing
KOSCIUSKO — An Akron man is facing multiple charges after providing false information after a traffic stop. Officers also discovered evidence that he was dealing narcotics.
Daniel Lee Swafford, 26, 309 Saner Drive, Akron, is being charged with dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 4 felony; possession of a narcotic drug, a level 6 felony; driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; possession of marijuana with a sentence enhancement, a class B misdemeanor; and false informing, a class B misdemeanor.
On July 27, an officer with the Claypool Police Department observed a vehicle cross the centerline. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified himself as Matthew Swafford and provided the officer with a date of birth. The officer noticed that the Indiana driver’s license photograph did not match the driver.
Another officer arrived at the scene and was able to identify the driver as Swafford, who has a different date of birth that the subject had previously given. The officer found that Swafford’s driver’s license was suspended prior.
Swafford was then arrested. During a search, officers discovered a digital scale with residue, several small empty bags, a bag of marijuana, a glass smoking device, two plastic bags containing heroin and a plastic bag containing pills identified as Buprenorphine Hydrochloride.
Swafford was previously convicted of possession of a controlled substance on Nov. 10, 2011, in Kosciusko County.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on July 28, with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
