Eleanor Deaton
Eleanor E. Deaton, 77, of Hope, passed from this life at 7:46 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mrs. Deaton was born Nov. 21, 1940, in Plymouth, the loving daughter of Russell and Geneva Bear Shively. She married Glen D. Deaton July 16, 1960, he survives.
Mrs. Deaton was the valedictorian of the class of 1958 of Beaver Dam High School.
She was an administrative assistant at Milestone Contractors at their Columbus office and retired in 2002 from their Indianapolis office.
Mrs. Deaton enjoyed membership at the Hope Moravian Church. She had a huge passion for working crossword puzzles and she had a special heart that would allow her to take care of anyone that had a need.
Mrs. Deaton is survived by her husband of 58 years, Glen; her daughters, Angela (Andrew) Wilkinson of Indianapolis, Andrea (Don) Hammond of Springfield, Ohio and Anita (Scott) Watkins of Columbus; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeremy) Carie of Columbus, Diana Hilycord of Indianapolis, Hannah Hammond of Fort Wayne, Lee Hammond of Springfield, Ohio, Evan Watkins of Columbus, and Emma Watkins of Columbus; step-grandchildren, Rachel Wilkinson of Chicago, Caitlin Wilkinson of Indianapolis and Matt Wilkinson of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Geneva Carie, Charlotte Carie and Sophia Hammond; sisters, Sally (Ernest) Heighway of Fountain City, and Nancy (Larry) McPherron of Plymouth; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Deaton was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Dale and Joe Shively.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 4205 Jonathan Moore Pike, Columbus, IN 47201 with Pastor Andy Kilps officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service.
