WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after burning candles led police to discover he was manufacturing methamphetamine inside an abandoned building.
Benjamin Jacob Albright, 39, 804 N. Old Orchard Drive, Warsaw, was booked for possession of a precursor, manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
On Aug. 6, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a possible fire at the Arnolt building. Upon arrival, the officer observed three candles burning and a male subject sleeping. The officer woke the subject up and identified him as Albright. While speaking with Albright, the officer observed Coleman fuel and other items. He recognized the items as precursors for manufacturing methamphetamine.
Upon searching the area, the officer discovered lye, sulfuric acid, ammonium nitrate, empty packages of Sudafed, a plastic bottle with a tube coming from the lid. The plastic bottle had smoke exiting it. The officer was able to identify the objects as a one-pot methamphetamine lab.
Albright admitted he purchased the items and drove to the building on his moped. He further admitted to manufacturing methamphetamine.
Albright was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 7, with a $15,250 surety and cash bond.
