Girls’ Hoops Tourney Draw Sunday
The IHSAA will conduct the pairings Sunday night for the 38th annual girls basketball state tournament.
The draw is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in Indianapolis. The pairings will be available at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the IHSAA website at ihsaa.org. The tourney pairings show, a 90-minute program originating from Indianapolis, will be broadcast locally by WHME-TV (Channel 46) at 7 p.m. Sunday. The show is not being aired live locally due to programming conflicts at WHME-TV.
Sectional play statewide is slated to begin the week of Feb. 4. Sectional championship games at the 64 hosts sites in four classes are set for Saturday, Feb. 9. Area sectional hosts include Concord and Penn in Class 4-A, NorthWood, New Prairie and Mississinewa in 3-A, Central Noble and Hebron in 2-A and Oregon-Davis and Fort Wayne Canterbury in 1-A.
Warsaw, currently ranked No. 8 in Class 4-A and a perfect 18-0, will play in the Concord Sectional. Wawasee and Tippecanoe Valley will play at NorthWood, while Whitko will be in the field at Mississinewa. Triton will compete in the Oregon-Davis Sectional, which features the host and No. 2 Bobcats, while Lakeland Christian Academy will make its first-ever sectional appearance as a member of the IHSAA in the Fort Wayne Canterbury Sectional.
Regionals, which involve four teams, are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16. Area sites of the 16 statewide include Valparaiso in Class 4-A, Bellmont in 3-A, Rochester in 2-A and Caston in 1-4. One-game semi states are Saturday, Feb. 23 with the North semi state hosts being Warsaw and Crown Point.
The State Finals will be played on Saturday, March 2 at the Hulman Center on the Indiana State University campus in Terre Haute. The Class 1-A state title tilt is set for 10:30 a.m. with the Class 2-A to follow. The Class 3-A championship contest will tip-off at 6 p.m. with the Class 4-A finale to follow.
Pairings for the 103rd annual boys basketball state tournament will be drawn by the IHSAA on Sunday, Feb. 17. Boys sectional action statewide begins the week of Feb. 25.
