Teel, Hill Among Crossroads Honors
AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of August 13-19. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.
A pair of Grace College athletes were among those honored for play in volleyballers Caylie Teel and Alexa Hill.
Teel averaged 2.6 kills and 2.8 digs per set, while recording a trio of double-doubles to lead Grace at the Huntington Invitational. The senior posted 12 kills and 14 digs in a four-set upset of No. 16 Cornerstone and ended the tournament with 49 kills, 54 digs and three service aces.
Hill tossed up 178 assists to go with 24 digs, seven kills, two aces and five blocks to highlight GC’s 3-1 showing at the HU Invite. Hill had at least 39 assists in all four outings, going for 46 helpers in a four-set win over No. 16 Cornerstone.
Others honored by the league included Hunter Gibbons and Morris Kamara of Spring Arbor men’s soccer as the defensive and offensive players of the week, respectively, and defensive specialist Valorie Flick of St. Francis.
