NORTHWOOD 167, NORTHRIDGE 175, WAWASEE 193
Number 11-ranked NorthWood opened Northern Lakes Conference play Wednesday with a pair of wins over host Northridge and Wawasee at Meadow Valley in Middlebury.
MacKenzie Weaver went low for Wood with a 40, followed by Delaney Davis’ 41, and Cybil Stillson and Kirsten Schrock both carded 43, adding up to a 167 for NorthWood, ahead of Ridge’s 175 and Wawasee’s 193. Abby Slabaugh shot 44 in a consistent performance by the Panthers’ top five.
Wawasee was paced by Belle Brunner’s 46 and Jadison Rostochak’s 47. Lesley Tayagua and Taylor Cripe turned in dual 50s. Valerie Haessig shot 61 for the toss-out in the team’s first time playing at Meadow Valley.
Braedyn O’Dell earned low medalist kudos for the Raiders with her round of 38. Ashley Brewster and Sophie Hollinger posted a pair of 45s, and Jules Weaver and Alaina Frey both shot 47 for the hosts.
NorthWood’s JV also won their meet with a 198 to Wawasee’s 261, while Ridge was unable to field a full team.
Makenna Gall carded 46 to lead Wood, Abigail Richner shot 48, Breanna Goss finished in 51, and Kylee Gall shot 53 for the JV Panthers.
Ava Harker led the JV Warriors with a 56, followed closely by Tate Cowan’s 57. Rhian Galloway shot 65, and Ayla Torres turned in an 83.
NorthWood’s varsity moved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the NLC, while Wawasee moved to 5-4 with an 0-2 NLC start.
The Panthers host Warsaw and Goshen at 5 p.m. Thursday at McCormick Creek. Wawasee hosts Plymouth and Concord at Maxwelton Thursday.
WARSAW 184, PLYMOUTH 218
Warsaw opened Northern Lakes Conference play with a win over host Plymouth at Pretty Lake Golf Club Wednesday.
Senior Madelyn Ray led the way for the Tigers with a score of 43 while earning medalist honorsShe was followed by Grayson Kilburn’s 45 and Izzy Ray’s 46. Julia Hildebreand shot 50, and Miriam Hagg’s 59 was Warsaw’s fifth score. The Tigers are now 7-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NLC.
Warsaw’s JV also posted a solid team score of 201 with consistent all-around effort. Anna Morgan and Delaney Byron both shot 49, Marie Frazzetta turned in a 50, and Sydney Lancaster posted 53. Izzie Vantwoud shot 64.
The Lady Tigers continue conference play on Thursday, at McCormick Creek Golf Course versus host Northwood and Goshen.
BREMEN 204, TRITON 245, TIPPECANOE VALLEY NS
Triton split a three-way meet with Bremen and Tippecanoe Valley at Swan Lake in Plymouth Wednesday.
Bremen topped the standings with a 204 compared to Triton’s 245, and Valley fielded just two golfers for an official no-score.
Alysha May shot 58 for the Trojans, followed by Maddie Ritchison’s 61 and Delanie Groves’ 62. Samantha Edington posted a 64 for Triton, which moved to 3-7.
Cheney Canda shot 62, and Sara Kelly turned in a 67 for Valley.
Bremen got a pair of 47s from Caitlyn Myers and Olivia Kelty, meanwhile, and Hanna Rowe and Alayna Ross both shot 55, while Kailey Simmons carded 62.
Valley will travel to Sycamore Golf Course to play Whitko, Manchester and North Miami Thursday.
Triton plays next Monday on the road against Glenn and Knox.
