Battery, Criminal Confinement Charges Filed Against Warsaw Man
WARSAW— A Warsaw man who reportedly became angry at a female because he felt she was flirting with his brother is facing charges after battering the female
Darryl A. Fields, 51, 301 N. Colfax St., Warsaw, is being charged with criminal confinement with bodily injury, a level 5 felony; domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 10, Kosciusko County Dispatch received a 911 call from a female victim, who stated that she had been battered by Fields. Dispatch then received a second call stating that Fields was driving a blue Dodge Durango.
An officer with the Warsaw Police Department located the vehicle and Fields. There was reportedly a strong odor of alcohol coming from Fields, who was also exhibiting signs of intoxication.
Officers spoke with Fields, who stated that his girlfriend had been flirting with his brother and advised that this upset him. Offices spoke with the female, who stated that Fields had become upset with her because his brother told him that she had been flirting with him. The female stated that Fields grabbed her by the hair and drug her into their bedroom. She said Fields then struck her several times.
The female told officers that she was able to exit the bedroom multiple times but said Fields would then catch her and drag her back to the bedroom and continued striking her. The female described being confined without her consent for 30 minutes.
Officers observed several abrasions on the female and reported that she was bleeding from her hand.
Fields was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail Aug. 10 on a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
