Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
1:52 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, West US 30, North CR 500W, Warsaw. Driver: Jed M. Smith, 53, South Jackson Street, Atwood. Smith was traveling westbound on West US 30 when he noticed a semi tire was in the roadway in his lane of travel. His vehicle struck the tire. Damage up to $2,500.
5:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, South SR 15, south of West CR 550S, Warsaw. Driver: Brandon L. Fitzgerald, 21, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. Fitzgerald was traveling north on SR 15 when a deer ran into the roadway. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:28 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2568 Walton Blvd., Warsaw. Driver: Della J. Pollock, 64, East Main Street, Silver Lake. Pollock entered the parking lot of Rise ’N Roll Bakery and attempted to turn left into a parking space. As she did so, her vehicle accelerated forward, causing her vehicle to go over the sidewalk and strike the side of the building. The south exterior wall of the building was pushed in and bent. Multiple windows were broken. The damage was at the southeast corner of Rise ’N Roll Bakery and the southwest corner of The UPS Store. Damage up to $10,000.
11:17 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw. Driver: Sherise L. Deardorff, 33, West Hoppus Road, Warsaw. Deardorff was backing out of a parking space when she sideswiped a parked, unoccupied vehicle. As she continued to back up, she backed into the front of a second parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
7:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, SR 15, near Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Kirk A. Hunsberger, 56, South CR 675W, Warsaw; and Jesse Allen, 52, North CR 625W, Milford. Hunsberger was traveling north on SR 15 via moped when he ran a red light, causing him to strike Allen’s vehicle in the driver’s side. Allen was crossing the northbound lanes of SR 15 when the accident occurred. Damage up to $10,000.
12:47 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, Lake City Highway, west of East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Brandon M. Davis, 30, Johns Street, Decatur; and Tammy J. Koontz, 53, College Avenue, Winona Lake. Davis was traveling west on US 30 when Koontz’s vehicle stopped for traffic. Davis’ vehicle rear-ended Koontz’s. Koontz complained of head and neck pain and was evaluated at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
