A Week Full Of Activities On Tap At Syracuse Library
SYRACUSE — The Syracuse Public Library Has Announced The Events for its upcoming week.
Fall is Extravaganza Time
Fall celebrations are the most fun, with costumes and decorations. Family Fun Night is a costume contest with a monster bash when DJ Scotty Rocker comes to spin some tunes. The family party is on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. The Syracuse Library is open for Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween night with carnival games in the Great Pumpkin Patch.
A Franken-Wreath class is accepting sign-ups to make a door wreath on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. Young children must be accompanied by an adult, as hot glue is involved. Concluding the seasonal festivities is an open mic night on Nov. 9. Everyone is invited to take a turn on the stage. The theme is Frankenstein. Presentations are approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
The Week at a Glance
The decluttering support group is meeting for encouragement and idea sharing on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. The group is settling in to a schedule of meeting on the first and third Tuesdays each month. Members are free to come and go from the group and new faces are invited.
Jackie Franks, a Purdue Extension presenter, is offering three classes for beginners about using notebooks and Smartphones or Androids. Monday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. is a class about features and updates and general usage of the device. A class about using the camera and another about connecting with social media are presented the following weeks. Please notify the Syracuse library to confirm space availability.
Children three to five years are invited to science thrills on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers 18 months to three years meet on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. for farm adventures. Babies up to age 18 months have a play and socialization time on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
Chair yoga meets three times during the week for easy pyramid yoga on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. Advanced at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and basic chair yoga at 10:30 a.m. Thursday includes a morning walk with Megan McClellan on the trails at 9 a.m. The basic chair yoga is at the Syracuse Community Center for easy accessibility.
