Grace Athletic Notes: Oct. 22
WINONA LAKE – A pair of items from the Grace athletic department.
Grace’s volleyball home match against Mt. Vernon Nazarene has been moved to Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The match was initially set for Wednesday night but changed to Tuesday night at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
Grace is continuing its battle at the top of the Crossroads League standings. The Lady Lancers (17-13, 9-5 CL) are in fourth place currently, just 1.5 games behind Indiana Wesleyan for third.
In the last regular season race of the fall season, Grace’s cross country team competed at the Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday.
The men’s team finished sixth out of 16 teams in the White Division, and the women’s runners combined to finish eighth out of 14.
Elijah Brooks was Grace’s best finisher, placing seventh in a time of 27:30. Ben Rankin was 15 seconds behind at 27:45, and Brendan Hamilton was next at 28:21.
Alex Brummett (29:05), Jonathan Balda (29:13) and John Marhefka (29:29) were in a nice pack, and Malik Peterson also scored for Grace in a time of 30:13.
On the women’s side, Carmen Trier was the top runner. She finished 14th overall after crossing the finish line in 20:27. Alison Coleman’s 21:06 and Heather Plastow’s 22:20 were second and third for Grace, and Makenzie Adams (23:07) and Morgan Mower (23:49) rounded out the team’s scoring.

The Lancers will start postseason play on Saturday with the Crossroads League Championships at Taylor.
