Wawasee Points To McRobbie As New Softball Coach
SYRACUSE – Wawasee High School announced Tuesday afternoon its official hire of Chloe McRobbie as its next head coach for the Wawasee softball program.
McRobbie replaces Mike Barger, who led the team for the past two seasons, becoming the fifth coach the program has had in the past eight years.
McRobbie just finished up her college career with Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. She was a three-year starter at shortstop, leading her team in batting average (.426 – 2nd in CCAC), hits (55), RBI (33) and runs scored (34) during the 2018 season. Chloe was also a member of Trinity’s Athletic Leadership Program for Student-Athletes (ALPS).
She also was named an All-Academic selection three times, a NCCAA All-American First Team choice in 2018 and was First-Team All-Conference pick in 2018.
McRobbie played her high school ball at East Noble, and has been active in Kendallville-area softball in helping True Impact Softball, and was also involved in Trinity camps in Chicago. Wawasee is her first head coaching position.
“We are excited about Chloe’s softball knowledge and feel that she is a high character young woman who will help Wawasee’s student-athletes grow as people and as softball players,” said Wawasee athletic director Cory Schutz in a statement Tuesday.
