Organizers Of Anti-Hunger Program Announce Final Event Results
WINONA LAKE — Organizers of the recent Feed My Starving Children Warsaw MobilePack event in Winona Lake have announced the results of the four-day event in October designed to help battle world hunger.
This year, 5,476 community volunteers packed a total of 1,135,296 meals, exceeding their goal of 1 million meals and setting a new record for the most meals ever packed at a Warsaw MobilePack event. The meals were shipped to Haiti through FMSC partner, Convey of Hope and Food for the Poor, as well as to Uganda through a program called Feed The Hungry.
The enthusiasm in the Gordon Recreation Center on the campus of Grace College energetic volunteers ready to make a difference. 2,500 students from Warsaw Community Schools participated in the event, giving those students the opportunity to grow in global awareness, empathy and enriching the lives of others.
Multiple generations were represented as families, church groups, office groups, sports teams and thousands of individuals all worked together to make an impact on world hunger.
The Warsaw MobilePack event was made possible by the support of local business sponsors, school partners, church contributions, and individual donors.
The combined efforts and generosity of the Warsaw community helped to fill the stomachs, and save the lives of 3,110 children who otherwise may have had no hope of being fed. Those who participated said they felt blessed by the opportunity to serve others in critical need and said they felt a sense of community by working hand in hand with their neighbors on this life-changing mission work.
