Roger W. Erickson
Roger W. Erickson, 58, and a resident of Warsaw’s Chapman Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at 12:04 p.m. in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital.
Born in Brainerd, Minn., Oct. 21, 1960, he was the youngest child of Delbert and Cleo (Dispen) Erickson. He was raised in the family home alongside his four siblings and graduated from high school in Minnesota before pursuing a degree at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fla.
It was while living in the Orlando area where he would meet the love of his life, Karla Bette. After working together and dating for some time, the two were wed on April 21, 1984. Their family, including three children, lived in Florida until 1990 when employment led them to the Warsaw area. They shared nearly 35 years together before his Thursday passing.
He loved to hunt. He enjoyed working on his Ford Model A which belonged to his Grandpa Dispen and watching television shows about restoring cars, too. He was a “Mr. Fix-it,” always working on a wide range of projects from small electronics to car and home repairs. Never known as shy, Mr. Erickson would tell you just what he thought and never knew a stranger.
Those surviving with memories to treasure include his wife, Karla Erickson of Chapman Lake; daughters, Lyssa Bowers (Wes) of Presque Isle, Mich.; and Kelley Erickson (fiancé, Joey Skeans) of Warsaw; son, Ryan Erickson (Rebecca) of Warsaw; and grandson, Apollo Bowers at home in Michigan. Also surviving are two sisters, Barb Anderson (Jeff) of Eveleth, Minn.; and Janet Bollum of Deland, Fla.; two brothers, Dale Erickson and Brian Erickson, both of Eustis, Fla.; parents: Delbert and Cleo Erickson of Eustis, Fla.; and mother-in-law, Karen Bette of Orlando, Fla.. His grandparents and father-in-law, Rudolph Bette, preceded him in passing.
A memorial gathering will be held by the family at a future date. No public visitation or funeral will be served. Titus Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements and condolences may be left on their website (www.TitusFuneralHome.com).
Memorial gifts may be made toward the expenses of the family. Gifts, payable to Karla Erickson, may be mailed or brought to Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580 for delivery.
