SYRACUSE — At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, the Wawasee High School Choral Department will present a Christmas celebration for the community. The program will take place at the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Drive, instead of the high school auditorium.
It will feature both secular and sacred music of the Christmas season. The beginning choir, advanced choir and Vocal Motion will be participating.
The concert will begin with all choirs performing an arrangement of “A Holly Jolly Christmas,” and “Children Go Tell It.” All choirs will be performing “A Merry Christmas Medley,” incorporating “Deck the Hall,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “The First Noel,” “The Holly and the Ivy,” and “Joy to the World.” The concert will end with the glorious “Hallelujah Chorus” from “Messiah,” by George Handel.
Beginning choir will perform “Winter Fantasy,” and “December’s Keep,” with music by Frederic Chopin. Advanced choir will perform “Let It Snow!,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Underneath the Tree,” choreographed by Senior Nia Cervantes.
Vocal Motion will perform several holiday selections with choreography. The group will perform “At Christmas,” “Up On the Housetop’” by Pentatonix, and the group’s traditional performance of “Fruitcake.” The group will also perform the selections “Coming Home For Christmas,” and “Extraordinary Merry Christmas.”
Fannie Smith and Elmer J. Kirkpatrick will perform the duet “When Christmas Comes To Town,” from the movie “Polar Express.” Madison Ingersoll will also perform the solo “Where are you Christmas,” from “Grinch.”
Santa will make a special appearance.
