Tigers, Warrior On Top 100 List
A trio of local senior standouts headline the list of the Top 100 girls basketball players statewide as selected by Hoosier Basketball Magazine.
Named to the Top 100 list of seniors statewide by the publication are the Warsaw duo of Jennifer Walker-Crawford and Lindsay Baker, along with KiLee Knafel of Wawasee.
The smooth and versatile 6-1 Walker-Crawford and long distance shooting ace 5-11 Baker are the top two scorers for Class 4-A No. 8. Walker-Crawford, who will play at Kentucky Wesleyan University, averages 14.4 points-per-game and the University of Toledo bound Baker checks in at 12.6 ppg. The pair will lead their 20-1 team into sectional semifinal play Friday night at Concord.
Knafel, who has signed to play at IUSB, finished her prep career at Wawasee on Tuesday night with a sectional loss to No. 3 NorthWood. The do-it-all guard averaged 24.3 ppg. this season and finished second in school history in career scoring with 1,649 points.
The list of area senior players tabbed for the Top 100 also includes Savannah Bley of NorthWood, Aimee Swihart of Goshen, Haley Richardson of West Noble, Olivia Carlton and Taylor Lutz of Penn and Katie Barnard of Mishawaka Marian. Bley is the second leading scorer for the 20-3 Panthers, while Carlton and Lutz are the top two scorers for 17-4 Penn. Richardson has signed to play at Ball State, while Swihart will play at Bethel College.
The Top 100 list will be trimmed to 60 with more observation of the players during the current state tournament. Those 60 players will then be invited to take part in the 32nd annual Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 Workout on Sunday, March 10 at Marian University in Indianapolis.
