Warsaw Woman Arrested For Leaving Phone Containing Meth At Local Business
WARSAW — A Warsaw woman was arrested after leaving a cellular phone containing meth at a local business.
Elizabeth Faye Contreras, 28, 503 W. Center St., Warsaw, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony.
On Nov. 26, 2018, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to Discount Warehouse. The business advised it found a phone containing a flaky substance. An employee said a female, later identified as Contreras, had left the phone on a shelf. The employee removed the back of the phone to take the battery out because it was making noises and observed a plastic bag containing a flaky substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the employee said Contreras had returned to the store to retrieve her phone and was informed the police had possession of it.
Contreras went to the police department and provided the passcode and description for the cellular phone. The officer opened the cell phone and showed Contreras the bag. Contreras admitted she couldn’t confirm that she would not test positive for methamphetamine.
Contreras was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 3, 2019, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
