Velma Sellers
Velma Sellers, 83, Plymouth (rural Bourbon) passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, at home surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 6, 1935, the daughter of Ed and Francis (Yarian) Flory at home in Tippecanoe. She has been a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Tippecanoe High School. As a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also was very active in the Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren during its existence where she played the organ and piano for years as well as taught Bible school. When the Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren congregation closed, she and Donald worshipped with the Bremen Church of the Brethren congregation.
On Oct. 4, 1953, she became the bride of Donald Sellers, who survives along with their children: Leland (Cindy) Sellers, Phyllis (Gene) Leeper, Kelvin (Nancy) Sellers and Rena’ (James) Turnbow; her grandchildren: Heather (Dave) Kapke, Daniel (Christine) Sellers, Jacque (Jason) Clinton, Molly (Brent) Nettrouer, Crystal (Nick) Jacobson, Sarah ( Dustin) Huff, Isaac (Holly) Sellers, Allison (Kyle) Coleman and Brandon Turnbow along with 21 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Clara Flory, and brother, Lloyd (Leda Jean) Flory, also survive.
She was preceded in death only by her parents.
The family will welcome friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, at the Bremen Church of the Brethren, 921 Woodies Lane Bremen, IN 46506. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Evan Garber, Rev. Crystal Jacobson (granddaughter) and Chaplain Tim Lee (Southern Care Hospice) officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon.
