Warsaw Man Arrested For Criminal Recklessness With A Handgun
KOSCIUSKO — A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly firing a handgun at the ground next to a male subject.
Joshua A. Paxson, 37, 468 E. Acorn Drive, Warsaw, is being charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony.
On Feb. 1, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence regarding a dispute that involved weapons and minors. The dispute led to an altercation between Paxson and a male subject.
Upon arrival, an officer spoke with a second male subject and a minor at the scene. The two individuals said the male subject involved in the altercation and a second minor arrived at the residence in a vehicle.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Paxson was in possession of a handgun during the altercation. The male subject and minor both said that the male exited the vehicle with a knife and that a verbal altercation occurred between the male and Paxson. During the altercation, Paxson fired his handgun at the ground near the male. The male and the second minor then left the scene.
Paxson told officers that he did fire the handgun. Officers also spoke with the male subject involved in the altercation. The male said that during the verbal altercation, Paxson spit on him and pointed a handgun at him. The male said he then grabbed a knife and left the vehicle. After exiting the vehicle, Paxson then fired the handgun into the ground near him. The minor accompanying the male gave a similar story.
Paxson was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Feb. 13, with a $5,750 surety and cash bond.
