Fifth Annual Run/Walk For Hunger
The fifth annual Run/Walk for Hunger will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, in Winona Lake. The event, which is hosted by Word Compassion Network, will utilize the Heritage Trail featuring water views, town streets, deep woods and several pieces of trailside artwork that interprets the town’s values.
The event aims to bring awareness and raise funds for those who suffer from hunger. According to the World Compassion Network, 33 million people in the USA alone are suffering from hunger, 13 million of which are children. All proceeds raised from the even will be given to charities within the Kosciusko community.
The World Compassion Network responds to disasters, both domestic and international, through local churches and partnerships with relief organizations as well as offering numerous missions opportunities.
Cost to enter the event is $15 for those who register before March 11, and $20 for those who register after. Race day registration will take place between 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. at Winona Lake Senior Center, 1590 Park Avenue, Winona Lake. T-shirts are guaranteed to those who preregister and are given as supplies last for those who register at the race. Awards will be given to overall male and female winners as well as to the top three in each age group for males and females.
