Kehler Named Judge Of County’s New Court
INDIANAPOLIS — Lifelong Warsaw resident Christopher D. Kehler has been named the new judge for Kosciusko County’s Superior Court IV, according to a press release from the office of Gov. Eric J. Holcomb.
Kehler, who has been in private practice in Warsaw since graduating from law school, also serves as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech Community College.
Holcomb signed a document last year, making possible a fifth court in the county. Holcomb selected Kehler from a pool of four candidates and officially made the announcement Thursday, April 11.
Also applying for the judgeship were Kosciusko County Attorney Chad Miner, Lindsey A. Grossnickle, a deputy prosecutor in Whitley County and Robert Bishop, deputy prosecuting attorney in charge of the county’s Child Support Division.
According to the Holcomb press release, Kehler will take over the seat on the bench July 1. No date has been set for his swearing-in ceremony.
Kehler graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1980 and from Franklin College in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He then graduated from Valparaiso University’s School of Law in 1987. He is a certified family law mediator.
Kehler said the governor called him a 9:42 a.m. Thursday to inform him that he’d been selected.
“I am honored to have been appointed by Governor Holcomb as judge of the Kosciusko County Superior Court 4 and I look forward to beginning this new stage of my career,” Kehler said.
