Milford PNC Bank Location Closing
MILFORD — Customers of PNC Bank will be receiving notices regarding its Milford location, if they have not already. In less than two months, the branch at 127 S. Main St., Milford, will be permanently closed.
According to a letter sent to customers, the company has studied the effectiveness of each of their branches, considering physical capacity and number of customers frequenting the location. Due to the wide variety of service options in banking, including online and mobile banking, customers are utilizing bank branches differently. Following this study, the company has decided to close the Milford branch and combine the Milford accounts into the Warsaw Central branch at 220 W. Market St., Warsaw.
Accounts in Milford will be combined automatically into the Warsaw Central branch so customers will not need to do anything. The Milford location will remain open normal business hours until 3 p.m. Friday, July 19.
Melanie Swartz, PNC Bank Warsaw Central branch manager, commented, “The company evaluated the branch. The evaluation showed that most of the customers use technology for their banking and it doesn’t get much foot traffic.” PNC Bank also noted that many of the customers that use the Milford branch location live close to Warsaw and use the Milford location due to its proximity to their jobs. Therefore, PNC Bank decided closing the branch would be the best option for the company. While other closed PNC Bank locations have been sold, Swartz does not know what will happen to the building in Milford after July 19.
The First National Bank of Warsaw expanded its building at its Milford branch and invited the community to an open house in 1982. This expansion is the current PNC Bank building. In 1998, the First National Bank of Warsaw became National City Bank. After that the building was taken over by PNC Bank. Now, with PNC Bank closing the Milford location, the future of the bank building is uncertain.
Lake City Bank has already broken ground on their new location on the corner of SR 15 and Emeline Street. According to Kevin Deardorff, Lake City Bank executive vice president, “We never really considered the purchase of the PNC building. We wanted that presence, visibility and convenience of access from 15. We thought it would be better for us and the community.” Due to the planning of the new location and the advantages that it provides, Lake City Bank will continue with construction at its new location.
