WARSAW — Warsaw Community Public Library Director Ann Zydek told the library’s board of trustees on Monday, May 13, that the facility’s long-embattled Limited Use, Limited Application elevator has been replaced and is officially operational.

“I would like to let you know that on Friday (May 10) we had a state inspector out here and we now have a state inspection sticker in the elevator and when he left, he said it can now be used,” Zydek said, adding that with the elevator issue nearly in the rear-view mirror, she is working with Bruce Hively, the library facilities manager to focus in on the library’s next project.

“We also did go out and view our deteriorating library parking lot, so you can see what our next project will be,” said Zydek, telling the board that the parking lot’s east side was showing the sign of age with numerous cracks.

Zydek and the staff also informed the board about an upcoming event in June that will give patrons a unique view of space.

The Curiosity Dome, a spherical, mobile, high-definition planetarium, will come to the library June 10. The library will host the Curiosity Dome courtesy of a grant from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. The dome is provided by Matrix Entertainment.

The board also:

• Approved a revision of the library’s Patron Code of Conduct. The new code will incorporate an obsolete food and drink policy.
• Heard the library will be conducting a lighting study for the entire facility.
