North Webster Chamber Announces Third Thursday After Hours Dates
NORTH WEBSTER — The kickoff event for the 2019 series of Third Thursday Business After Hours events sponsored by the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce begins from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the new Re/Max Lakes location announced Chamber President Jim Smith, Loose Moose Motorsports. The monthly meeting was held Monday, May 13, at the chamber office, Tippecanoe Township Building.
A ribbon cutting for the new facility, 702 S. Main St., will be done at 4:30 p.m.
Third Thursdays are networking events for chamber members and their employees and all are urged to attend. Other dates booked are Milestone Day Care Center Thursday, June 20; Mutual Bank Thursday, July 18; and Pletcher Insurance Thursday, Aug. 15. All are from 4 to 6 p.m. Businesses wanting to host a Third Thursday event should contact Mindy Scaggs, Re/Max, (574) 529-3339.
Dixie Day Festival Saturday, July 27, was discussed briefly. The chamber board voted to provided 50 dashboard plaques for the car show at a cost of $1.15 each. They will be 3 by 4 inches informed car show co-charirman Paula Miller, Paula Miller Farm. A Dixie Day Festival Committee meeting will be held soon.
Dixie Day Festival Co-Chairman Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations, noted two hand washing stations have been ordered for the festival and one chamber sponsored food booth will be near the arts and craft vendors for their convenience.
Second Saturday events will be pioneered by The River Coffeehouse with music and a food truck starting in June. The chamber will help to expand the event in 2020 reported Kelly Thompson, The RIver.
“The North Webster Lions Club Mermaid Festival will be held Wednesday, June 19, through Saturday, June 22. The theme is ‘Life at the Lakes,’” reported Treasurer Kim Bolt, Mutual Bank. The chamber board voted to donate $100 to the Lions as an event sponsor.
Bolt also said she had a square from Quikbooks for the chamber to use for those who want to charge items. Vice President Amanda Meerzo, Mohawk Pier & Lift, added the chamber will purchase the Mac Quikbook app and the chamber has the regular one, new and unused for sale. It was decided the chamber did not need to purchase a cellphone.
North Webster Community Guides have been delivered to many local and area businesses and other locations according to Secretary Susan Stump, The Papers. There are copies in the chamber office for those needing them and sign out is required.
The planters from chamber member Clayton Garden Center will be ready by Memorial Day. Stump noted they have been revamped for this year. The chamber provides 12 of these to sit beside the six downtown benches owned by the chamber.
The next general meeting will be held noon Monday, June 10, at the chamber office, 102 S. Morton St. All members are welcome to attend and can bring their own lunch if they wish.
