The gray Hyundai Elantra struck a tree head-on.

PIERCETON — A woman was airlifted following a single-vehicle accident after her gray Hyundai Elantra struck a tree in Pierceton.

At approximately 4:05 p.m. Monday, May 20, Pierceton Fire Department responded to a report of a personal injury accident on South 1st Street, across from Pierceton Elementary School.

Initial dispatch reports said the female driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was breathing but not responding to individuals at the scene.

Washington Township Fire Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office,  Lutheran EMS and Pierceton Police Department were also at the scene. Parkview Samaritan medical helicopter airlifted the injured woman from the scene for medical treatment.

No further information is available at this time.

A landing zone was established at Pierceton Elementary School for the medical helicopter.
