North Webster Chamber Third Thursdays Almost Booked
NORTH WEBSTER — The big news at the monthly meeting for the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce was a full schedule of Third Thursday Business After Hours events for the rest of 2019. The meeting was held Monday afternoon, June 10, in the chamber office, Tippecanoe Township Building. President Jim Smith was in charge.
Upcoming dates are Milestone Early Learning Center, June 20; Mutual Bank, July 18; Pletcher Insurance, Aug. 15; Loose Moose Motorsports, Oct. 17; and Todd Realty, Nov. 21. Sept. 19 is open. Any chamber member business that would like to host a Third Thursday is welcome to do so. Contact chamber board member Mindy Scaggs, Re/Max. She was thanked for the successful open house at Re/Max in May.
Dixie Day Festival updates were given at the meeting. It is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, along SR 13 downtown, West Washington Street, Mermaid Festival Grounds and Dixie Landing, North Webster Town Park.
Food Vendor Chairman Tammy Waliczek, Dixie Haven Resort, reported seven applications with four verbal commitments. Car show chairman Paula Miller has ordered awards while Sue Ward, arts and crafts fair chairman, Sue’s Creations, said 21 artisans are signed up with more expected.
Board member Karilyn Metcalf noted the extra Dixie boat cruises for Dixie Day Festival are at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Board member Martha Stoelting, The Papers, informed the group the radio ads had been made. North Webster Community Center Director Kara Crousore said the center will have the same fees and hours for its vendors as the chamber does. Another committee meeting will be held soon.
The chamber has selected Shelby Bolt as its scholarship recipient for 2019. To earn the scholarship, the applicant maintains the chamber sign south of town on SR 13. Linda Land, Lake-Land Cottages, is scholarship chairman. The chamber board decided to work with former recipient Abby Stump by withholding the award for a year, as she has enough funds for next school year.
In other business the chamber voted to donate $100 to the Webster Lake Conservation Association for fireworks for Saturday, July 6, and to support the North Webster Community Center auction with $500.
Ward received thanks for picking up the flower pots from Clayton’s Garden Center and placing them downtown by the chamber donated benches. She was also thanked for watering them. Secretary Susan Stump, The Papers, will look into getting badges for chamber board members.
The next chamber meeting will be held noon Monday, July 8, at the Tippecanoe Township Building, 102 S. Morton St. Park off West Washington and Blaine streets. All members are invited to attend.
