Milford Library Programs Have ‘Spacey’ Theme
MILFORD — The Milford Public Library has announced its list of upcoming events.
Guest storyteller Maureen Haab presented “Have Spacesuit, Will Travel” at Family Story Time on Friday, June 7. Children of all ages enjoyed listening to “The Astronaut Handbook” by Meghan McCarthy and “Mousetronaut” by Mark Kelly, a former astronaut. “Mousetronaut” is based on a true story of the author’s experience in space. These books are available to check out in the library’s children’s department. Everyone made an astronaut helmet and enjoyed a space snack mix. Family Story Time is on Fridays at 10 or 11 a.m. Patrons can call (574) 658-4312 to register family members to attend. Every family earns one free book for participating in the program. Sixty-seven people attended last Friday.
Patrons can come to the library’s meeting room from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. weekdays (except July 4 and 5) and enjoy a nutritious lunch. Children age 18 and younger are welcome. A library staff member will read to the crowd while everyone has lunch. Meals are provided by the Department of Agriculture and the Indiana Department of Education. Each meal has protein, vegetables, and fruits.
Potawatomi Zoo will present its “Zoo-to-You” program in the library’s meeting room on Wednesday, June 26 at 2 p.m. This 45-minute program will be filled with fun facts about the animals they bring.
Every Monday (except July 1) the library is showing a movie in the library’s meeting room. Be there by 2 p.m. to get a great seat and a free bag of delicious popcorn. These movies are family appropriate, so the whole family can relax and have a good time.
Library Celebration
This year, the library is celebrating 100 years at the location on the corner of Main and Catherine streets. All day on Friday, June 28, patrons can visit the library for refreshments and a chance to win a door prize between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Beginning at 7 p.m, the library will have an old-fashioned ice cream social in the parking lot.
At 7:30 p.m., enjoy the barbershop quartet, 4 O’Clock Shadow. Patrons can bring their family and visit with friends and neighbors while listening to some great music and eating homemade ice cream. Be sure to check out the video on our website,milford.lib.in.us.
