Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
6 a.m. Monday, June 24, West CR 700S, west of South CR 450W, Claypool. Driver: Melissa R. Burns, 41, West CR 300N, Etna Green. Burns told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 700S when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
12:25 p.m. Sunday, June 23, East Old Road 30, west of North CR 350E, Warsaw. Driver: John R. Loer, 71, East Timberline Circle, Warsaw. Loer told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on Old Road 30 when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
2:22 p.m. Saturday, June 22, South County Farm Road, north of East CR 350S, Warsaw. Driver: Tylynna S. Kipker, 58, South Magee Road, Warsaw. Kipker told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on County Farm Road when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
10:47 a.m. Friday, June 21, North SR 19, north of West CR 1150N, Nappanee. Driver: Jerry D. Burkholder, 17, North CR 625W, Nappanee. Burkholder told police he was driving his vehicle northbound and that traffic ahead of him stopped for a mowing crew. He said he was unable to stop and swerved to avoid the vehicle in front of him, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole. Damage up to $2,500.
Milford
Officers from the Milford Police Department investigated the following accident:
2:16 p.m. Saturday, June 22, North SR 15, north of West CR 900N, Milford. Drivers: Vera M. Miller, 56, North CR 500W, Warsaw; Kevin D. Herschberger, 50, West CR 1350N, Nappanee. Police said Miller was driving her vehicle eastbound on CR 900N and failed to yield while turning on SR 15, causing Herschberger, riding a motorcycle, to lay his bike down to avoid a collision. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
9:49 p.m. Saturday, June 22, East Center Street and US 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Rick A. Lupica, 49, North Washington Street, Warsaw; Jocelyn M. Anderson, 18, West CR 250S, Warsaw. Lupica told police he was stopped at a stop light and saw the vehicle in front of him move forward, causing him to proceed and his vehicle to collide with the vehicle driven by Anderson. Lupica was given a citation for driving while suspended with a prior. Damage up to $2,500.
1:47 p.m. Saturday, June 22, West CR 300N and SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Antonio A. Castillo, 32, West 3rd Street, Ligonier; Elva J. Yoder, 42, Hooley Drive, Goshen. Castillo told police he was stopped at an intersection behind the vehicle driven by Yoder and that Yoder’s vehicle began to proceed and then stopped suddenly. He said he was unable to stop his vehicle before it collided with Yoder’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
1:04 p.m. Saturday, June 22, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Driver: Amie R. Fortman, 22, West CR 150S, South Whitley. Fortman told police she was pulling her vehicle into a parking spot and sideswiped a parked vehicle without realizing it. Damage up to $2,500.
3:49 p.m. Friday, June 21, East Center Street and South Lincoln Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jamie L. McNeil, 40, Dodane Road, Fort Wayne; Carol L. Martin, 57, North Lake Street, Warsaw. McNeil told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Center Street and could not stop her vehicle in time to avoid a rear-end collision with the vehicle driven by Martin. Damage up to $5,000.
