Warrior Open Shines On Wawasee Community
SYRACUSE – Wawasee held its annual Warrior Open golf outing Monday at South Shore Golf Club. The morning and afternoon sessions were played under a clear and forgiving sky at the home of the Warrior boys golf team.
The outing, which serves as one of the primary Wawasee athletic fundraisers, saw some former athletes take top honors.
The morning winners were from Northern Lakes Insurance, consisting of brothers Vince, Clint and Scott Beasley along with Brent Doty. The team shot a round of 56, or 16-under, for the morning. Runner-up honors went to the team of Tranter, Tranter, Jackson and McKibben.
The afternoon winners were from Chubbies, made up of the quartet of Andy Wolf, Ben Jackson, Justin Jones and Caleb Lung. The group also posted a 56, one better than the runner-up group led by Jon Everingham, with his dad, Ron, and Nate O’Connell and Geoff Walmer.
Contest winners included Jackson taking longest putt, Jon Everingham with men’s longest drive, Dina Coverstone with women’s longest drive, Scott Melbrod with closest to the pin and Jeff Phillips winning the putting contest.
