NorthWood Advances To T&C State
ROCHESTER – After two rounds of the Town & Country baseball state tournament, NorthWood remains as one of the area teams playing for a championship.
The 10U team from NorthWood will advance to the Town & Country after qualifying from the 10U Junior Semi-State games at Rochester. NorthWood entered the semi-state after winning the District 1 title at Akron on July 15. NorthWood then went on to advance to state after winning two games at Rochester to reach the final four of the semi-state, earning automatic qualifying status. NorthWood lost to North Miami in the winner’s bracket but came back with a win over Lewis Cass in the consolation bracket to finish third.
Fairfield qualified its 10U and 12U baseball teams for the state tournament, taking third in the 12U bracket and fourth in the 10U bracket.
Tippecanoe Valley lost its two 12U baseball games in the semi-state. Valley also had its 8U team go 1-2 in the district tournament earlier in the month.
On the softball side of the Town & Country tournament, New Paris took fifth place in the 12U bracket after going 1-2 concluding with a win over Rochester in its final game. In the 8U grid, Tippecanoe Valley had a nice run in the tournament, losing to North Manchester in the opening round but picking up a few wins in the get-back rounds.
State championship rounds of the Town & Country baseball tournaments begin this Thursday at Frankton for 12U games, at Frankfort for 10U games and at Plymouth for 8U games.
