Burket Man Airlifted After Vehicle Falls On Him
BURKET — At 10:22 a.m. Saturday, July 27, Kosciusko County Dispatch received a call regarding a man pinned underneath a vehicle in a garage at 207 E. Broadway Street in Burket.
Dispatch was notified several minutes later that the man, identified as Christopher Witham, 63, Burket, was no longer beneath the Ford Mustang.
It was determined that Witham had been working beneath the passenger side of the Mustang, when the cribbing supporting the weight of the vehicle moved; trapping Witham’s hips and upper torso under the vehicle. Witham was able to alert his wife, who was in the home. Family members then used a floor jack to lift the Mustang and free Witham.
A landing zone was set up at the Burket Educational Center, located at 5095 South CR 700W, Burket. Witham was airlifted by Samaritan to Parkview Regional Medical Center for leg, hip and chest pain. Witham was conscious and alert prior to leaving the scene.
Four Way Emergency Services, Parkview EMS, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and Seward Township Fire Department responded to the scene.
