Northeastern Indiana Historical Native American Series Begins Sept. 5
SYRACUSE — A free, three-part series about historical Northeastern Indiana will be featured at the Syracuse Community Center, 1013 N. Long Drive, Syracuse in early September.
Event dates and times are as follows:
- Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. “Algonquin inhabitants of Indiana’s Forest.” Focus on how the Miami and Potawatomie nations responded to the upheaval of Americans who came in conquest. Presenter: Joe Krom
- Friday, Sept. 6, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. “Prehistory (10,000 B.C. to 1492 A.D.) of Northeast Indiana and the Midwest.” This presentation will focus on items similar to those presented in the J.P. Dolan display, plus several prehistoric artistic items that have been displayed at the Smithsonian and the Chicago Art Institute. Presenter: Steve Hart
- Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. “Native American Artifacts – hear, see, feel/ hands-on.” A family program providing a discussion and hands-on introduction to the J.P. Dolan Native American Collection. Presenters: Ann Garceau, Jamie Clemons, Jeff Mesaros
