Movie Theater Accuses Ex-Employee Of Embezzling $17K
WARSAW — Police have arrested a Warsaw woman following a three-year investigation by her employer and booked her into the county jail for theft.
Rachael A. Ormsby, 47, 509 Alward Street, Warsaw, is charged with four counts of felony theft, all level 6 felonies, and one count of misdemeanor theft, a class A misdemeanor. She was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 18 on $10,000 surety and cash bond.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, while employed at Northpointe Cinemas, Ormsby was investigated by her supervisor for voiding large sums of cash and removing the money from the cash drawer. The supervisor told police he began investigating Ormsby on June 10. He additionally told officers he began reviewing transactions as far back as 2016 and found voided transactions totaling $17,480.50.
The supervisor told police he confronted Ormsby on June 12 and terminated her employment. He said she later contacted him and asked if she could pay back the money to avoid legal action.
