WCC Presents ‘Fish Eyes: The Play’
This Easter season, enjoy the greatest story ever told from a new perspective. Fish-Eyes: The Play is the Gospel story as seen through the eyes of two ordinary guys, fishermen brothers – Peter and Andrew – who were called by Jesus, witnessed His miracles, wrestled with His teaching and lived right alongside Him.
With Easter taking place during Spring Break and many people leaving for vacation, Warsaw Community Church wants to provide an opportunity for all people, whether they believe or not, to consider the meaning of Easter with “no strings attached.” The public is invited, encouraged and welcome to this fun, witty, but real evening show, starring WCC’s own drama team members, Greg Teghtmeyer and Josh Knox, with original music by Christian-recording artist and WCC Worship Pastor, Nick Stanton.
Fish-Eyes: The Play portrays the confusion and questions, but also the surprises, joy and ultimately, the freedom the disciples must have experienced as they lived and worked with Jesus.
Greg Teghtmeyer plays the role of Peter, alongside his “brother” Andrew, played by Josh Knox. Greg explains that the roles of the two characters are easy to relate to.
“They’re real people, just like us. They have flaws, they have character quirks, they laugh, get frustrated, lose their cool, try so hard, and often fall down. And yet, Jesus chose them! It means a lot to me, because it makes it that much easier for me to grasp and believe in my heart that God chooses me too.” Teghtmeyer also says, “Overall, my hope is that we’ll give people a chance to laugh and, hopefully, also touch their hearts in a very real way.” It’s a message that just might change your life.
Director Mike Boze is enjoying the process as well, crediting Greg and Josh for their experience and professionalism on and off stage.
“It’s a pleasure to work with Greg and Josh. They’re two real professionals with experience ranging from the Wagon Wheel to Chicago to Off-Broadway. There’s a lot of brotherly banter and humor in the script. But there are also scenes where the characters’ questions and frustrations about faith are very familiar to our experience. These guys have the range to reach you from either end of the spectrum.”
The original script was written by Lee Eshleman and Ted Swartz. Fish-Eyes: The Play has toured playhouses, theaters and churches around the world. The WCC production of Fish-Eyes: The Play will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the WCC Main Campus on 2300 Ranch Road in Warsaw.
