WARSAW — The car involved in Monday evening’s hit-and-run accident was found unoccupied at an East Clark Street residence.

At 7:51 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. The bicyclist, Cory M. Thomas, 42, Warsaw, was traveling east on East Market Street when he was struck by a red 1999 Cadillac Eldorado.

The car was later found at 715 E. Clark St., about a mile north of where the accident occurred. The car had damage to its front bumper and windshield and was impounded by Warsaw Police as evidence.

Police know who the vehicle was registered to, but the report did not indicate if it had been stolen.

Thomas sustained injuries and lacerations to his head, arms, chest, stomach and knees. He refused medical treatment at the scene but was taken by police to Kosciusko Community Hospital.

A witness told InkFreeNews that an argument near Hickory and Market Street preceded the incident. After watching the car strike the bicyclist, she was able to follow the car and provide photos of the car to police.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated to be as much as $5,000.
