Church Partners With State For Internet Safety Discussion
SYRACUSE — On Nov. 16, Shepherd by the Lakes Lutheran Church, in Syracuse, will be hosting an informative presentation on how to assist parents in understanding the online challenges children face. This will include tips for adults to give their children to navigate the online world.
Cathie Bledsoe, an educator with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, will be the presenter. Technology changes all the time, and children are constantly finding the newest websites, apps and gadgets. It’s vital they learn the rules of internet safety so they can use technology responsibly. This personal safety information focuses on information gathered from the ICAC and Indiana State Police.
Topics discussed will include:
• The pitfalls of posting too much information
• The challenges some types of apps, websites and games present
• The downside of posting and sharing inappropriate photos
• The many types of online predators and how they target victims
The presentation will take place at Shepherd by the Lakes from 3-5 p.m. Nov. 16. The church is located at 7449 East CR 1000N, Syracuse. It is located across US 13 from Wawasee Middle School.
