Update: CR 800W Reopened Today After Crash, Fire Last Week
ETNA GREEN — As of this morning, Wednesday, Oct. 9, CR 800W, north of Etna Green, was reopened after a semi tractor-trailer carrying over 7,000 gallons of ethanol rolled over and caused a fire Thursday, Oct. 3.
According to Kosciusko County Highway Superintendent Scott Tilden, environmental work in the area will continue later this week. As a result, traffic on CR 800W may be restricted to one lane of travel while the work is completed.
Tilden also said approximately 240 feet of road damaged in the accident was repaved during the closure.
On Oct. 3, Roger L. Reed, 60, Bremen, was driving a semi tractor-trailer north on CR 800W when one of the tires of the vehicle went off the roadway. Reed overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll and ignite a fire.
