Joy Day Fair
Joy Day Fair, age 91, passed away March 21, 2013, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Joy Day lived out Proverbs 31, intentionally using her talents to make the world a better place. Formally trained in public speaking, she won state-wide speech contests as a high school student, presented inspirational programs to Kosciusko County groups after moving here with her husband. She also volunteered in Warsaw Community High School speech activities from 1960-64. She co-founded Taxpayer’s Action Network of Kosciusko County and led the campaign to preserve the downtown Carnegie library.
Joy Day taught elementary school at Leesburg, Pierceton, Columbia City and Warsaw Christian schools. She was known for “going the extra mile” to provide clothing, food and individual attention for needy students. She sewed clothing for her students, for missionaries and for her own family.
She provided meals for young women staying at a counseling center program where she was on the board of directors. Joy Day (Clark) Fair was born in Richardsville, Ky., to Irene and JB Clark and reared by grandmother Ida Simpson, all whom preceded her in death.
She married Ellis Fair of southern Indiana in 1944, who died in 1987. They had one daughter, Talitha Day Fair, who survives. Joy Day is also survived by a brother: Sidney Clark, Colorado; a sister: Estelle Murrell, Bowling Green, Ky.; and a sister: Edith Flowers; and their families.
Calling will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will be at 1 p.m.
