Dennis Gerig, T-Square Mill and Elevator Supply, hung lights on the town Christmas tree last week. Everyone is invited to the North Webster Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Pilcher Shoe’s Lawn, SR 13, downtown North Webster. All new lights for the tree were purchased by the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring the event.

NORTH WEBSTER — A tradition is being revived in North Webster. Due to popular demand, the town tree lighting ceremony has been brought back after a brief absence.

Organized by the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce, the event will once again herald the arrival of the holiday season Saturday evening, Nov. 23, on Pilcher Shoe’s lawn.

Festivities kick off at 4:30 p.m. with several merchants offering specials and food. Tangibles will have chili and donuts supplied by Oswalt Family Bakery and Cafe. Sue’s Creations will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. with $1 a stem red roses, one half off fall decor and 10% off Christmas decor. North Webster Ace Hardware will have free popcorn and Judy’s De Ja Vu is having a storewide 20% off sale. Pedals and Paddles is doing 10% off storewide. Time to get some shopping in.

The River will have free hot chocolate thanks to Mohawk Pier and Lift, as well as cookies donated by the community. AK Hare Co. is supplying the candy canes and Guy’s Lawn Care the caroling candles.

The ceremony itself begins at 6 p.m. at the tree. Mike Beezley and Anna Gibson will lead the group in caroling while the tree is lit.

All new lights have been provided the chamber with T-Square and chamber volunteers stringing the lights. The chamber has donated the Nativity scene and Santa and elves decor and volunteers from the chamber faithfully put them up annually. The town of North Webster is hanging the winter banners purchased by the chamber, the town and Phil and Karilyn Metcalf.

Everyone is invited to attend to usher in the Christmas season. Pilcher’s Shoe’s lawn is in front of the castle on SR 13 in downtown North Webster. Remember to shop locally to support local businesses and keep the dollars revolving in the community.
