GoFundMe Established For North Webster Woman
NORTH WEBSTER — A GoFundMe has been recently established for a North Webster woman who has undergone several surgeries after being diagnosed with a jaw tumor.
Kailey Ball is a 20-year-old Manchester University sophomore majoring in social work. She graduated early from Wawasee High School with academic honors.
However, after multiple surgeries and hospital visits involving the tumor, Ball had to withdraw from classes this semester. She hopes to start taking classes again in the upcoming spring semester.
Ball had her very first surgery to remove a tumor in 2014. The tumor then came back in 2016, with surgeons having to remove part of Ball’s jaw as a result. In 2018, the tumor came back once more. Another portion of Ball’s jaw, as well as a portion of her cheek and part of the roof of her mouth, were removed.
Throughout the surgeries and hospital visits, Ball was in a coma for approximately a month and a half. She’s undergone physical therapy, having to learn how to walk again after being in a coma.
Currently, Ball is out of the hospital but is facing another possible surgery due to an infection that started developing after her surgery in 2018. She’s also continuing hospital visits in Indianapolis on a weekly basis.
Since 2014, Ball estimates she’s spent approximately a year’s worth of time in the hospital.
“I need your help to prepare for hospital bills, long stays in these places, and getting my family taken care of along with myself,” said Ball through her GoFundMe page’s summary. “This is all very hard when we don’t have an income to support us currently. Please help me and my family in this time of need.”
