Bluegrass Bands At The Vogue
INDIANAPOLIS – The Stampede String Band, James & The Drifters and The Whipstitch Sallies will perform at 9 p.m. Friday, April 5 (doors open at 8 p.m.) at the Vogue Theater in Broad Ripple for only $3. Tickets are available at the door.
The Stampede String Band plays Indiana’s freshest modern folk and bluegrass with three part harmonies, accompanied by bass, mandolin, guitar, banjo and harmonica. With a set list of Americana, folk and bluegrass, Stampede String Band plays songs from the “O’ Brother Where Art Thou” soundtrack to traditional bluegrass tunes, like cover songs from Tom Petty and The Band, to Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” and Bob Dylan/Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.”
Currently working on their second full-length album, James & The Drifters is a Midwestern folk rock band. From Huntington, Ind., they began creating music in 2010, and eventually formed into the band they now call James & The Drifters. They recorded their first album with 23 songs in eight hours.
As an all girl group that sings lead and harmony vocals, The Whipstitch Sallies have a rootsy Americana sound. After their debut festival appearance in July 2010 alongside Goldmine Pickers and The Steel Wheels, The Whipstitch Sallies have kept a rigorous performance schedule around central Indiana. Their lively, energetic performances engage crowds in festival settings like Bean Blossom’s John Hartford Memorial Festival as well as intimate venues like the Indy Folk Series.
The Vogue is located at 6259 N. College Ave. (in the Broad Ripple Village) in Indianapolis. Show is 21+. This is a non-smoking show.
