Parkview Hosting Cervical Cancer Presentation Jan. 31
WARSAW — To increase awareness of cervical cancer prevention and treatment, two expert physicians will host a free educational brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Parkview Warsaw Center for Healthy Living.
Parkview Cancer Institute physician Scott Goodrich and Parkview Warsaw OB/GYN Caitlyn Ryser will share the most current research and information on human papillomavirus vaccination, and the latest treatments and advancements for cervical cancer.
“We have the ability to reduce the occurrence of this cancer, but it is extremely important that people are educated on the facts surrounding this disease — its cause, as well as its prevention and treatment,” said Dr. Ryser. “Cervical cancer is the second-leading female cancer worldwide and we have the ability to dramatically reduce the incidence with an extremely effective vaccine and highly accurate screening pap smears. The vaccine also protects males and females against other genital and throat cancers related to HPV.”
The discussion will include a presentation by each physician, a screening of the documentary “Someone You Love,” which focuses on five women whose lives were changed by HPV, as well as a question and answer session. In addition, a free brunch will be served by 110 Craft Meatery.
Seating for the event is limited and reservations are requested by Monday, Jan. 27. To reserve a seat, call the Parkview Center for Healthy Living at (260) 266-6500 or (844) 835-0003. The Parkview Center for Healthy Living is located at 1305 Mariners Drive, Warsaw.
