Wawasee claimed its first team win of the 2020 season during action in Ligonier.
Aundreya Wegener and Talia Kuhl paced Wawasee for the evening. Wegener had three top results, scoring 7.65 on bars, 8.75 on beam and 9.025 on floor. Combined with an 8.6 on vault, Wegener posted a 34.025 all-around score for tops in the meet. Kuhl won vault with an 8.85 and would score 30.95 in all-around.
NorthWood’s Emilee Conrad was third in the meet with a 27.475 all-around total, her highest score a 7.55 on vault.
HOMESTEAD 108.325, WARSAW 89.175
Warsaw wasn’t going to keep up with the perennial state contenders, but did it’s best to compete in the same manner Tuesday in Allen County.
Warsaw tossed out its three competitors and, while not able to crack a top four, had all three finish the all-around. Daylen Turner paced Warsaw with scores of 8.675 on vault, 6.85 on beam and 8.75 on floor. Sydni Purvis had Warsaw’s top bars score at 7.3. All-around scores for Warsaw had Turner at 31.125, Purvis at 30.3 and Erika Bugg at 27.75.
Homestead’s Gianna Zirille had a huge night, scoring a 38.325 in the all-around with huge numbers that included 9.75 on vault and 9.675 on floor. She also tallied 9.45 on bars and beam. Abigail Mathison added a 9.075 on vault and 9.15 on floor for the Spartans.
