North Webster Man Facing Charges After Money Taken From Pizza King
NORTH WEBSTER — A North Webster man was recently arrested after stealing money from Pizza King.
Robert Braxton King, 35, 215 E. Himes St., North Webster, is charged with burglary, a level 5 felony; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
On Nov. 30, 2019, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office went to the Pizza King location in North Webster regarding a burglary. An officer with the North Webster Police Department spoke with two of the business’s employees at the scene. According to court documents, $372 in cash in a bank bag was reported missing. There was no sign of forced entry to the building.
The officer then went to a residence to speak with King, an employee of the store who had previously been suspected in at least on incident involving missing bank deposits. King admitted to having keys to the Pizza King store. The officer also learned there was a warrant for King’s arrest and took him into custody. When the officer questioned King about the missing money from the restaurant, King denied having the money.
Police received consent to search the home where King stayed. While searching the residence, an officer found a white Lake City Bank bag with the words “Pizza King” written on it. The bag was found in a jacket belonging to King.
In December, the officer spoke with the employee who had closed the Pizza King store on Nov. 29. The employee identified the bag found in King’s jacket as one she had counted money into and placed in a file cabinet drawer. The employee told the officer she was taught that procedure by King.
King was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 30, with an $11,000 surety and cash bond.
