Blue Öyster Cult Cancels Performance
American rock band Blue Öyster Cult has officially cancelled their performance as this year’s headliner for the Classic Rock Concert in Warsaw’s Central Park.
Staci Young, recreation director of the city of Warsaw, was notified Thursday evening that due to a scheduling oversight by Artistic Management, the group would no longer be able to perform at the Center Lake concert. The Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved the $24,000 contract on Friday, March 1, to bring in the band for the Friday, June 14, concert in the park.
According to Young, she was notified Thursday afternoon that because of a scheduling oversight by Artistic Management, the group would no longer be able to attend the concert.
“We are obviously disappointed in this cancellation, because there was a lot of excitement around welcoming Blue Oyster Cult to our community. This situation was out of our control, and artist management apologizes for the mistake,” said Young. “We will explore booking them for a future concert, as scheduling allows, and will work to find another artist for this year’s concert as soon as possible.”
Young stated the department is currently back to ground zero and will be in contact with agencies for possible, suitable replacements.
An announcement of the replacement band will come after new contracts are approved and signed by the Board of Public Works and Safety, however until then, there is no time frame set for when a replacement band announcement will occur.
