Grace Starts Fast At CL Day One
MARION – Grace’s track and field team started the 2020 Crossroads League Indoor Track and Field Championship on Friday at Indiana Wesleyan.
On Friday’s opening day of competition, Grace set multiple school records and had one All-League event.
The men’s distance relay earned All-League honors by placing third. Logan Rufenacht, Issiac Mitchell, Zach Johnson and Dimitri Margaritidis crossed the finish line in 10:34.25.
The men’s 4×800-meter relay team of Isaac Beatty, Jonathan Balda, Brady Willard and Luke Smith placed fourth with an NAIA “A” qualifying time of 7:55.66.
John Green set a school record in the 60 dash. He crossed the finish line in 6.95 seconds to qualify for Saturday’s finals.
Kyle Smith finished fifth in the 600 with a time of 1:23.49, William Shafer was seventh in the weight throw (48-feet-9), and Connor Kitson sits in sixth place halfway through the heptathlon. Kitson’s remaining three events in the heptathlon will wrap up on Saturday.
On the women’s side, Suzanne Sickafoose broke her own school record in the 600, placing fifth in a time of 1:39.80.
Olivia Lugibihl finished the pentathlon in fifth place with a final score of 2,250 points, establishing a new school record.
The 4×800 relay squad of Weslea Arthur, Makenzie Adams, Kaitlyn Mack and Heather Plastow ended in fifth place (10:11.75), and Rylin Bagarus will advance to tomorrow’s final after a prelim time of 9.61 in the 60 hurdles.
Lyne Camara (7.92) and Nordia Campbell (7.96) both advanced to the final on Saturday in the 60 dash.
