Warsaw Schools Cancel Classes Until April 10

WARSAW – One day after taking several steps to eliminate exposure to the coronavirus, Warsaw Schools Corporation announced classes have been canceled.
On Friday, March 13, Dr. David Hoffert announced that Warsaw Community Schools will close beginning Monday, March 16, and remain closed until the end of spring break on April 10.
A calendar and eLearning plan has been created, and additional details can be found on the school district’s website under Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).
There are many questions surrounding the COVID-19 virus and its impact on Warsaw Community Schools. Please know that WCS is actively monitoring the situation on an hourly basis and will continue to share information and update content regularly. As a school system, WCS understands the responsibility to be open when conditions allow. This could mean adjustments to shorten or lengthen this schedule as needs change, said a statement from the school system.
“WCS recognizes that while this situation is not ideal for students, staff or parents, it is important for the health and safety of our overall community. WCS has used eLearning on multiple occasions and are confident that this experience will be as successful as possible, given the circumstances,” the statement said.
Dr. Hoffert thanks everyone for their continued support of Warsaw Community Schools, the statement said.
Hoffert also offered a “sincere thanks to all the dedicated people at the Kosciusko County Health Department, the city of Warsaw, the WCEA, Warsaw Community School Board and staff at Warsaw Community Schools who have been working tirelessly to prepare and plan for students and families.”

Warsaw is the first public school district in Kosciusko County to close over the coronavirus.
