MILFORD — Calls from residents in Kosciusko County about a group of individuals going door to door and attempting to sell magazines, cleaning solutions, air purifiers and other items had county and state police looking for a brown Suburban.

Reports were being received from Pierceton, Leesburg and even Milford, of this vehicle pulling in driveways and driving around as if to be checking out residences. Several posts were made on Facebook also indicating they were stopping at residences where no vehicles were parked in the driveways and looking into windows at residences when no one answered the door.

Kosciusko County sheriff’s officers spotted the vehicle in Milford early this afternoon at the Marathon station. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the four occupants, at least one being a female.

The occupants, in a vehicle with a Texas license plate, told authorities they were working for a sales company with a local office in Fort Wayne. After the vehicle was checked and their identifications verified, officers advised the occupants they were not welcomed in the county and asked to leave.

The sheriff’s office was assisted in the search by Milford Police and Indiana State Police.

Police inspected the contents inside this Suburban in which the occupants stated they were going door to door as sales solicitors.
