Warsaw Library: Freegal Music
By Anna Jackson, Information Services
Did you know that you can get 5 free songs (to keep!) every week with your Warsaw Community Public Library card?
Unlike many services that are very generously being provided for free for a limited time during the COVID-19 crisis, Freegal is a library resource that will be continuously available!
Freegal might just be one of the most underappreciated e-services on WCPL’s website. This app gives library members access to Sony’s entire 15 million+ song library, and every week library patrons have the opportunity to download 5 new songs to add to your collection. This service is completely free and totally legal! What better way to get music?
How does this work? All you need to do is download the Freegal app to your smartphone or device and log in with your library card number and pin number. (Don’t know your card or pin number? Email the library at [email protected] and they will help you out!) From there, the app will ask you to choose which library you are a member of – simply type in your zip code, and choose Warsaw Community Public Library from the drop-down list.
From there, you are good to go! Browse music by genres or artists, or search for specific song titles to download. Another great feature that Freegal provides is an easy-to-use “wish list” function! Once you have reached your 5 songs per week download limit, you can still search for songs and add them to a saved list to download at a later date! Once songs are downloaded, play them straight from the Freegal app or find them in the music library on your device.
If you haven’t already started using Freegal, there is no better time to start! Feel free to contact us with any questions you might have. Happy listening and rock on!
