SYRACUSE — A man was recently arrested after a high-speed vehicle pursuit that led to the discovery of drugs.

Gage Nathanial Ramer, 25, 30903 Creekwood Terrace, Osceola, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement, both level 6 felonies.

On April 30, a Syracuse police officer saw a vehicle traveling without taillights. As the officer turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights, the vehicle began accelerating, traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph and disregarding traffic signs. According to court documents, the officer pursued the vehicle until Wakarusa police officers were able to deploy a device that stopped the vehicle.

The vehicle’s occupants then attempted to flee the scene on foot. Officers were able to apprehend the occupants. The vehicle’s driver was identified as Ramer.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine. While en route to the jail, Ramer and his vehicle’s passenger admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to them.

Ramer has an initial hearing regarding this case at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, May 14.
