MILFORD — Despite Milford Fest being cancelled, the Milford Fest Committee was still able to bring some fun and excitement to the streets of Milford during Memorial Day weekend.

Quentin Flagg came to the streets of Milford, bringing 50s and 60s rock ‘n’ roll music in a drive-in concert. Those wishing to enjoy the concert were asked to remain in their cars.

Committee members directed parking traffic for the downtown concert. Parking for the concert began at noon and all concertgoers had to be parked prior to the show’s 1 p.m. start time.

Brenda Bethel announced Flagg at 1 p.m. As the one in charge of entertainment for Milford Fest, Bethel was integral in organizing the drive-in, along with the rest of the committee members, in just a couple weeks. Flagg’s wife, Sara, ran sound from a small booth outside Milford Town Hall.

Cars lined the streets of downtown Milford to hear Flagg perform for an hour and 15 minutes. This would have been Flagg’s third year at Milford Fest and he has gained quite a following, with one car driving from Bristol just to watch him perform.

After each song, cars would honk their applause at his performance.

Local restaurants were invited to provide a carhop service to those in attendance. Miotto’s Main Street Bar and Grill and Turf Bar walked around to each of the cars in attendance with paper menus providing limited food options. Employees would take orders and then bring the food to their cars.
